“In effect, I was reversing my osteoporosis!”
Three years ago, aged 63, ex-nurse Diana was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis. She was prescribed the bisphosphonate medication Risedronate but this gave her bad reflux, worsening her tendency to suffer from this unpleasant condition. For this reason, Diana chose not to take the drug and set about looking for an alternative.
How it began
“My bone health journey began when I was 50 and it wasn’t a promising start. I’d been to see my GP as I was getting a slight hump in my upper back and was sure I was shrinking! I wanted my bones checked but was told, bluntly, aged 50 I didn’t fit the criteria for a Dexa scan.
“During the Covid epidemic I became quite ill and needed a chest x-ray which revealed I had a fractured rib and evidence of some old fractures of which I hadn’t been aware!
Severe Osteoporosis
“This was February 2022 and I was 62 years old. Despite my x-ray, I still had to fight to get a Dexa scan. But eventually I had one and was saddened to be diagnosed with severe osteoporosis. The prescribed medicine gave me very bad reflux and I also had concerns about well-documented side-effects.
“I did my own research and came across bonebalance which I took alongside vitamin D and calcium.
“In September 2023, I fell badly and broke my wrist in two places – resulting in having a pin and plate inserted. Given the way I fell, it’s not surprising my bones broke. In January 2024, I had an x-ray to check how my wrist was healing and also a Dexa scan as I was due a follow up. Imagine my delight when the consultant said my wrist was healing well and much quicker than he expected. Even better, my bone density had improved in my spine and femoral neck compared to my 2022 scan. In effect, I was reversing my osteoporosis.
“My spine score had gone from -2.8 to -2.5 and my femoral neck score improved from -3.1 to -2.7. Meanwhile, my hip score stayed similar at -2.7 so I’m confident this will start to reverse as well.
“I can only conclude that taking bonebalance alongside my calcium and vitamin D supplement has brought about this positive and encouraging change.”

“I reversed my osteoporosis with daily yoga and collagen in my coffee”
Sarah was first diagnosed with osteopenia, the condition which is a forerunner to osteoporosis, aged 46 in 2018. Although she had no symptoms of osteoporosis, she knew the disease runs in families and her mum suffers severely, having also being diagnosed in her 50s. Now in her 80s, she is on strong medication for her crumbling spine and has a dowager’s hump.
From despair to determination
Sarah was advised to keep an eye on her condition and have another DEXA scan in three to five years’ time. When she returned for a follow-up in July 2022, she was devastated to learn she had osteoporosis in her spine with a -2.9 measurement and osteopenia in her hips with a -1.5 measurement.
“I initially felt helpless thinking it was out of my control and perhaps this is my fate: I would suffer as my mum is,” says Sarah. “My GP said it was ‘not likely’ I’d be able to reverse my osteoporosis and that once you’ve got it, it’s very difficult to get rid of it. At first that got me down – then it made me more determined to prove this theory wrong!”
Fight Back
Sarah was advised to go on HRT, as she was post-menopausal, to strengthen her bones. Having trained as a nutritionist, Sarah knew that may help but wasn’t enough. “I was already pretty active and ate healthily, supplementing my diet with vitamin D3,” continues Sarah. “I then researched further to find the exact amounts of vitamins K1 and K2 and boron that I needed to benefit my bones. I ensured I ate calcium-rich foods as I couldn’t tolerate calcium supplements.”
Saved by yoga - and collagen!
Sarah was already practising yoga on a regular basis and stepped this up by training to become a yoga teacher. In addition, she started weight training every day as well as bouncing on her trampette at home. These combined have given her greater strength and balance, both very important as osteoporosis leaves bones brittle with any falls or knocks easily leading to fractures.
“It turns out that yoga was my saving grace in more ways than one as my yoga teacher told me about the importance of collagen for healthy bones and this led me to my finding bonebalance,” says Sarah. “I simply dissolve it in my morning coffee - it’s that easy!”
Amazing Results
In February 2024, Sarah had another DEXA scan which revealed the condition had stabilised in her hips and reversed in her spine with a measurement of -2.5. “When I saw my improved DEXA scan I was over the moon. My morning coffee with bonebalance, yoga, lifting weights and bouncing on my trampette have combined to bring this result. Now, I just want to keep going to see how much better I can make my bones.”

“I’m over the moon to have proof that the changes I’ve made are working”
Trish, 49, from Peterborough
“I had been taking sodium valproate medication for my bipolar disorder for 15 years before reading that it can affect your bone density. I was worried if it had affected me so went for a bone density scan in March 2023 where I discovered I had osteopenia with scores of -1.1 in my hips and -0.9 in my spine.
I came off the medication and went on a different one which doesn’t affect bone density. But I was still worried as I was pre-menopause so still had that to go through with the risk it posed for my bones.
“I’m now on a low dose of Olanzapine which is less damaging to bones. I started doing more exercise – light jogging and Pilates. I switched from running to kick boxing which I prefer, plus self-defence classes and feel confident inside and out from doing this.
“I then start to research natural remedies for building bone density and found bonebalance. I couldn’t believe my eyes and was so pleased seeing that there was something I can do to help myself. I started taking bonebalance in August 2024. Imagine how pleased I was at my next DEXA scan on September 15, 2025 which showed I had increased my bone density by 3% in my hip, going from -1.1 to -0.8 and by 6% in my lower spine going from -0.9 to -0.3. This was after just 12 months taking bonebalance! It’s so easy to take, encourages me to drink more water in the morning and has no side effects. It’s amazing!
“Other dietary changes I made were to cut out red meat, switch to pescatarian diet and eat more legumes, prunes, spinach, cottage cheese and Greek yoghurt, topped off with a vitamin D supplement.
“I’m over the moon now as I have proof that the changes I’ve made are definitely working. I still have menopause to go through but believe bonebalance combined with my exercise regime will help to mitigate its impact.”

“I’ll take bonebalance forever now – I’ll never give it up!”
Wendy, 54, from Worthing
“I had been very ill with other issues – a blocked bowel which had been undiagnosed for five years, resulting in intestinal failure. I was treated in hospital for three months and while there was asked about my periods. They tested my hormone levels and told me I was already post-menopausal aged just 39.
“When I returned home, because of having an early menopause, my GP recommended I had a bone density scan. That was in 2018 and showed I had osteopenia in my spine, hip and femur.
She recommended I do weight-bearing exercise and take vitamin D and calcium supplements. Because I’m lactose intolerant and allergic to dairy, it was considered my calcium intake might be lower than ideal. I made a few adjustments to my diet and exercise regime but in 2023, my second Dexa showed no improvement.
I’m a Natural Dispensary customer and decided to see what they recommended for bone health to see if that could boost my bone density – and that’s how I found bonebalance.
I started taking it May 2023 by simply adding my daily 5g serving to my morning smoothie. It’s so easy!
In November 2025 I had another Dexa scan and was over the moon to be told I don’t have osteopenia in my spine anymore. An increase in bone density of 4.6% has taken me out of the osteopenia range. My hip has improved and my T-scores are now better than they were seven years ago!
“It’s the best news knowing I don’t have osteopenia in my spine. I don’t want to reach 60 with osteoporosis and seeing the improvements has given me renewed confidence. I’ll be honest and say that when I was told I had osteopenia, I felt frail mentally and concerned my bones were not in a good place. To know now that my spine is stronger makes me feel stronger and less vulnerable.
“I don’t ever want to have to take osteoporosis medication: having found bonebalance, I don’t think I ever will.
“I’ll take bonebalance forever now – I’ll never give it up!”

“I will be forever grateful for bonebalance”
Joy Gadsby, 62
It was October 2021 and I was walking my son’s dog along a country path when she got spooked by something. I was holding the lead when she ran behind me and tripped me up. I crashed to the ground, landing on my left side, breaking my wrist and fracturing my pelvic bone. Luckily, I was with my husband and another gentleman came over to help. He stayed with me while my husband went to my aunt’s house nearby and borrowed her wheelchair!
I couldn’t walk but could just about stand to get into the wheelchair. The pain was too great to get into the car, so we called an ambulance. At hospital, I had surgery to insert a plate into my wrist, while the pubic bone fracture was considered stable enough to heal over time.
Osteoporosis at 58
After the operation, the consultant looking at my x-rays said my bones were not good. A DEXA scan in January 2022 confirmed this, showing osteoporosis in my spine and osteopenia in my hip. My spine score was T -3.1 and hip T -2.2, with a FRAX of 25%.
I was completely surprised to be told I had osteoporosis at the age of 58 – I had no symptoms whatsoever and felt fit and healthy.
I do remember my mum saying once a week she had to take a tablet for her bones, but I never thought much of it. She certainly never had a DEXA scan! My father also had a fall in his 70s and broke his hip, so perhaps I should have thought I might have inherited the condition.
Starting to exercise
I walk a lot but have never been one to exercise – I’ve always found the gym intimidating. But I knew I had to do more resistance training. I decided to start as soon as my wrist had healed to get myself fit. I bought some light weights and resistance bands, found an over-50s fitness app and follow its workouts at home. It’s easy to fit 30–40 minutes into my day and I’ve been consistent with it.
Medication not for me
I was prescribed Alendronic Acid tablets but really didn’t feel good on them. I felt stiff, like a board – some days I could hardly get out of bed! I was also worried about having to sit upright for 30 minutes after taking the tablet; it felt like it was stuck in my throat. I just didn’t get on with the medication.
Finding bonebalance
When I read about bonebalance, I thought I’d give it a go and weaned myself off the tablets. I moved across to a mainly Mediterranean diet and prioritised foods rich in calcium. I switched from almond milk to skimmed milk and each morning have porridge with flax seed, hemp seeds, sunflower seeds and prunes. I’ve added lentils and legumes to my dishes, cut down on meat and eat more fish and vegetables. I also drink nettle tea which I’m told is good for my bones!
Feeling positive again
When I was first diagnosed, I felt very down. But when I started reading up on osteoporosis, I realised there are things you can do to help yourself. Combining a better diet and regular resistance exercise with taking bonebalance have turned things around for me. I now feel good and positive and am in a much better frame of mind.
My latest DEXA scan in October 2025 showed an improvement in both my spine and hip with my spine now T -3.0 and hip T -2.0, with a FRAX score of 23.7%.
I’m so glad I found bonebalance and will be forever grateful. I simply add it to my morning coffee – it’s so easy to take!

“I am convinced that bonebalance has reversed my osteoporosis”
Gilly, 69
Gilly had breast cancer 31 years ago which was treated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy and five years of tamoxifen, all of which can affect bone density. This plunged her into an early menopause - another factor involved in osteoporosis. Soon after, aged 42, she was prescribed medication to treat her underactive thyroid. When she was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2020, Gilly took action to reverse her condition: here’s what she did.
“My mum had osteoporosis which resulted in several of her vertebrae crumbling which caused her great pain. She also had an underactive thyroid and was diagnosed with osteoporosis aged 60 when she broke a bone in her foot.
“I was aware of my risk but only really gave it serious thought after I fell over in 2020 and feared I had broken a rib. I hadn’t, but I was sent for a DEXA scan that November and diagnosed with osteoporosis in my spine and hips. My T-scores were -3.1 in my spine and -2.1 in the femoral neck. I was mortified and determined to do something about it. My doctor prescribed alendronic acid which has terrible side effects, so I decided to not take it and did some research into alternative ways to address my condition.
“The first thing I did was commit to strengthening exercises every day. After a few months, I reduced that to three times a week and I still do them six years on! I also did short bursts of jumping every day for a few months as I read that could strengthen my bones.
“A couple of years later, in 2022, I discovered bonebalance and was persuaded to give it a try based on the positive testimonials I read. I love the fact it’s completely natural and easy to take in porridge or muesli each morning.
“I went for another DEXA scan in November 2025 and was delighted to see my T-scores had improved to -2.8 in my spine and -2.0 in the femoral neck. The report said there was no need to take further action or medication.
“It is clear to me combining bonebalance with regular exercise has improved my bone density. I don’t think the exercise alone would have made such a difference and am convinced that it is the bonebalance that has reversed my osteoporosis.”

“I have no doubt that bonebalance has helped reverse my osteoporosis”
Margaret, 74
Margaret from East Yorkshire is an active, outdoorsy person. She still loves her daily walk in the countryside as well as doing 45 minutes of flexibility exercises each morning.
Having seen both her mother and maternal grandmother suffer with osteoporosis, Margaret was mindful of checking her bone health. Her first DEXA scan showed osteopenia which progressed to osteoporosis. This is how she fought back – with the help of bonebalance.
“I’ve had my fair share of health challenges including chronic endometriosis and diverticular disease. Instead of relying on medication, I chose to manage both conditions through a combination of diet choices and herbal treatments under the supervision of an experienced herbalist. Opting for wholegrain foods and cutting out white flour and yeast made a huge difference and helped me stay in control of my symptoms. Aged 38, I started taking a calcium supplement because of my family history. I then found out I was lactose intolerant, so switched to lactose-free milk, rather than plant-based milk.
Osteoporosis in the family
“Osteoporosis runs in my family, so it’s always been on my mind. My grandmother had a strong Victorian demeanour, so it was a shock for me to see her break down and cry with pain from her osteoporosis when she was only 75. At 65, my mother was put on the then‑new bisphosphonates for her osteoporosis. I saw how difficult they were for her: every Wednesday she had to get up early to take the tablet and then she couldn’t do anything for the rest of the day because of the side effects. Worse still, despite going through all that, she lost her mobility aged 83 and went on to break the top of her femur. When she passed away a few weeks later, the operation to repair her femur was listed as the secondary cause of her death.
“Because of my family history, I went to my GP in 2007 when I was 55, even though I had no symptoms. I was sent for a DEXA scan which showed a T‑score of –2.1 in my spine and –1.4 in my femur. The GP told me there was nothing to worry about and didn’t offer any advice about protecting my bones.
Natural approach
“As herbal treatments had worked brilliantly for me before to keep medical symptoms under control, I decided to look for natural supplements to support my bones. In addition to my calcium, I started taking vitamin D and vitamin K to help with absorption.
“Despite my best efforts, in 2014 aged 62, a DEXA scan showed my spine bone mineral density had dropped to –2.4 although my femur had stayed much the same. By 2022, my spine was down to –2.9 and my femur –1.5.
“Around that time bonebalance came onto the market and I was one of the first to try it. I had another DEXA scan in September 2025, and this time my spine had improved to –2.3. My DEXA report said: ‘The Bone Mineral Density of the spine has increased by 8.7% and the hip remained at osteopenic level since 2022.’
Clear improvement
“Aged 68 and 71, my spine was considered osteoporotic and my DEXA scans showed ongoing decline. Now, at 74, my spine is in the osteopenia range, with this improvement shown clearly on my most recent scan.
“I’m so pleased and in no doubt that bonebalance has helped reverse the advance of my osteoporosis.”
